While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. Responsibilities

Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools and fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines.

include those listed below. Other duties may be assigned. This position is a full-time (minimum 40 hours per week) on-site position.

  • Responsible for supporting a safe work environment and promoting safety engagement in the department.
  • Ensures all plant production areas are maintained daily and are kept clean and orderly, free from maintenance spare parts, decommissioned parts, and general trash.
  • Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and resolve need for adjustment or repair.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, machine parts or specifications to resolve type and dimensions of metal stock required.
  • Builds daily and weekly schedules for technicians.
  • Leads all aspects of work of subordinates who perform the following duties:
    • Dismantle machines or equipment to examine parts for defects or to remove defective parts.
    • Replace defective parts with new parts, or repair or reproduce part from various kinds of metal stock.
    • Assemble and test operate machines to verify correction of malfunction.
    • Maintain and lubricate machine tools and equipment.
  • Ensures that all hydraulic and water pumps are working correctly and are ready for production.
  • Inspects work of subordinate workers.
  • Orders parts for machines.
  • Ensures employees follow all housekeeping, safety and plant rules, policies and procedures.
  • Communicates effectively within department and with other departments.
  • Develops positive work relationships.
  • Observes and implements all Company, housekeeping, safety and plant policies and procedures.
  • Has strong written, oral, communication and facilitation skills.
  • Recommend action to Maintenance Manager on personnel management matters.
  • Trains, develops, mentors, and assists subordinates.
  • Creates and maintains a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Addresses errors, problems, and complaints within scope of authority.
  • Motivates and encourages teamwork within the department to ensure productivity targets are met.
  • Keeps Maintenance Manager and other key managers informed of important matters as appropriate.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises electrical and mechanical technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies, practices, and procedures. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and directing work; interviewing, rewarding and disciplining employees; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) plus 2 years’ manufacturing experience required; OR equivalent combination of education in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Industrial Technology and/or industrial manufacturing experience. One year in a leadership capacity desired
